Delhi Dynamos will look to end the season in the same way as they started it as they take on FC Pune City in their last game of the Hero Indian Super League Season 4. The Lions are on a 5-match unbeaten run and will look to continue this momentum as they prepare for the upcoming Super Cup. Pune meanwhile have already qualified for the top 4 spots, but will be looking to cement that 2nd spot as anything less than a win could see them drop down in the table.
The last time these two sides met was the opening encounter of the season for the duo, where Dynamos registered an emphatic 3-2 win at the Balewadi Stadium. Paulinho Dias, Lallianzuala Chhangte and Matias Mirabaje were all on target as the Lions raced to a 3-0 lead. But since that match, it was a contrasting story for both the sides as Dynamos went through a difficult phase that saw them lose 6 games on the trot. Pune meanwhile registered emphatic wins.
Dynamos come into this game on the back of their best performance of the season as they thrashed Mumbai City FC 5-1. Lions have now won 3 of their last 5 games.
“The form is very good after the back-to-back wins. Winning is always a very important part of football, to stay motivated and happy. Now, we must play the last match of the season and try and win this one to stay happy,” Coach Portugal said ahead of the final encounter.
Pune meanwhile lost 4-0 to FC Goa in their previous match, and will be looking for a better showing this time around. The Stallions though will be without the services of former Lions Marcelinho and Kean Lewis while Diego Carlos is also suspended.
For Delhi, all eyes will be on Manuel Arana who has changed the fortunes of the side ever since coming on loan. The Spaniard has been pulling the strings from the midfield and also registered his first goal for the Lions in their last match.
The game will be telecasted at 8pm and will be shown Live on Star Sports Network, Hotstar and Jio TV.
